Marie’s Healing Testimony and Strong Tower

The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe. Proverbs 18:10 ESV

The Saturday before Hurricane Ian came to call, we had a wonderful time praising God at our monthly Sunshine Village meeting. I had just finished an opening praise song when I was unexpectedly interrupted by Marie. It was a song she vividly remembered because more than twenty years back she had received a miraculous healing from Asthma, while singing it in church. I love her statement, “Don’t be shy to give God the glory!” We are not shy about yelling for our football team or against candidate X – Y or Z in an election. Why should we miss out on giving God all the credit He deserves when He gives us an opportunity? Have a blessed day all and pray for us as our outreach grows a little each month as we share the love and hope we have found in Jesus Christ!

Melodies From the Heart

Let them praise his name with dancing, making melody to him with tambourine and lyre! Psalm 149:3 ESV

One thing I delight in discovering, is how much people of all ages love to sing to God, and they love to do it together! Much is said about how we need to be setting time aside to be alone with God. But it is equally important that we join together to praise and there is nowhere I have seen that better than in long term care. Whether we are meeting in memory care or assisted living, residents really enjoy singing, as much as they are able to.

Maybe that is because music welcomes us to participate, in a way that preaching does not. Praising God also means putting God’s word into action. It shows unity, because we join our voices to sing the same words and notes (mostly!). It gives us joy because we can clap our hands, or just close our eyes in quiet worship no matter the situation we are facing. Most of all, worship puts our focus on God. He becomes the center of our attention when we as members of His family join as one to praise His name! Today’s video tells the story of two friends and their two parakeets, and how we used to sing together. I hope you can take the time to join us and sing along with these good old-fashioned gospel songs!

Praise Him When the Sun Goes Down

From the rising of the sun to its setting,
the name of the Lord is to be praised! Psalm 113:3 ESV

My friends at Life Care Center remind me by their presence, that no matter where we are in life, that we can always praise the Lord. They come in their wheelchairs, though some cannot hear well, some cannot see and few of them ever leave the building anymore. Yet when it is time for our 11 AM Friday service, they come, they sing, and take time to praise God!! Just as today’s verse reminds us: It doesn’t matter what time it is in our lives. It is always time to praise the Lord! I hope you will enjoy this simple rendition of the old classic chorus, “Praise Him When the Sun Goes Down!” Have a blessed week everyone. Let’s all try to keep up with my friends at Life Care and tell our hearts it is always time to praise God.

Old Time Revival In Memory Care

Clap your hands, all peoples!
Shout to God with loud songs of joy! Psalm 47:1 ESV

If you think we only sing some old slow hymns at our Thursday morning meeting, then you have never joined us. If we did that half my folks would fall asleep! So, I invite you to join us for this medley which I titled, “Country Hoedown at Sunshine Home. Get ready to clap, maybe stomp your feet and please feel free to sing along!
