31 Days of Hope – Day 12
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7
Whether you are facing life from inside the four walls of a nursing home or the four walls of your apartment or house our need for God’s help doesn’t change. There are hours we all pass through when we have lost patience and through tears of frustration hope seems far away. But God’s presence and promise to take care of us as our shepherd and provide for our needs hasn’t changed.
At that very moment when we can feel the dark shadows closing in around our world God stands close and anxiously waits for us to leave our anxieties and needs at His feet. He will not stop caring for us when the cares of life press in. He will not abandon us when we feel alone. He hears our worried thoughts and listens to our prayers. He stands ready to come to our aid. He has not failed, forgotten us or written us off. Our great Savior guides us through every night and carries our hope in His hands.
They come and they sit and they wonder which way is home and who they are talking to. But the spark of life, of humor and love still burns. They are all remembered by God though they have forgotten so much.
Be sure to embrace them, because no one else will touch them who hasn’t been paid to do so. Be sure to call them by name even if they seem to have forgotten yours. Never be afraid to use humor because the Bible tells us
A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. Proverbs 17:22
They are God’s special children. As one nurse told me, “It is like God is turning back the clock for them.” They are losing the strength and the capacity they had as adults but we must continue to love and give to them the honor they have as; our parents, our aunts our uncles, our brothers and sisters. Never give up on your loved one. Remember that God will not give up on even one!
We go because He calls!
We go because we are blessed in giving!
We go because the need is so great!
But most of all we go because God is faithful and He has trusted us to carry that message to others!
Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you. Isaiah 46:4
Love this clip because it shows people praying in all kinds of ordinary situations that we all face. This was banned from cinemas in the United Kingdom. I think that now even more people will watch it! Be blessed!
