Reading Luke 24:13:31
As Christians, Easter should be more than just a event on our calendar. Easter must be first the celebration of the central event of our lives. On the the first Easter Sunday as two believers walked along sadly remembering the death of Jesus, the living Christ came and listened!
In 2018 we have walked much further than they, yet as we share with one another in remembering Him He still comes along side. What sadness or grief do you carry today? Jesus Himself offers to share our journey and give us a life that is greater than any death! He is closer than we realize and still waiting to be revealed in the breaking of the bread.
It was a little hard to get our teenagers together for an Easter program at the nursing home it was definitely worth it. After all between, school, part time jobs and just being teens they have a crazy schedule.
If your church has or is considering a nursing home outreach I urge you to challenge your young people to get involved. They sang several songs, helped to serve communion and visited with the residents. Then as we were packing our things up the head nurse said, “No you can’t leave! Have the kids sing some more!”
What an Easter blessing it was to be a part of a team sharing our faith from the youngest generation to the oldest. Together we are the body of Jesus Christ!
